Hello my name is Simon Fielding and I've been present in the forum for quite some time, so I thought it was time I introduced myself properly. I use the name withnail67, and my primary interest is the Great War, and I often post the Great War Forum. However before, my first love is the history of the Second World War, and I've been reading the forum postings here with a great deal of excitement and pleasure. Although I'm very much the late end of the baby boomer generation, I grew up with my grandparents’ stories of the Blitz in Birmingham in the 1940s, the bomb sites around their house in the Black Country, and of course reading Warlord, Battle and Commando comics when I was a kid. I suppose being English my primary interest is the British Forces, especially the Normandy and Arnhem campaigns, although I wouldn't presume at all to even begin to chase the depth of knowledge has been displayed in the forums that I have been reading! I am also deeply impressed and not a little humbled by the accounts of the many veterans who post on the forum. It's an honour to hear your stories gentlemen ! At the moment I'm reading Paul McCue's book on Operation Bulbasket and yet another officer diary from the Great War. I've really enjoyed being an observer, but I hope to have much fuller part in the fall of the forum from now on. I look forward to meeting all of you. Best Simon
