    Hello all,

I am new here and I am looking for help.

I am looking for a part of the WWII War Diary of the Algonquin Regiment (4th Can. A. Div.) for the period 20th - 31st January 1945.

It would be nice if somebody has this part!

    Looking forward to your replies.

    Marius,

I have a copy of Warpath. Was there a specific engagement you were looking for.

I know WARPATH but it does not give me the answer I am looking for.

Many thanks Dryan for the quick reply. Fantastic!

The reason I wanted these is that I am looking for the background of the death of privates Beers and Grant. Both are registrated at 26-01-1945.

Having a quick look I learned there is an entry about Beers. I will look for Grant now.

My question was: are both man killed during that battle for Kapelsche veer.
I hope these parts of th War Diary can tell me more.

    Let's study!!

To all who are reading through this WD too:

    1. On 26-01-1945 theres is indeed an entry about pte. Beers.
Not sure about what Coy he was in. Does anybody has an idea about this. His army number is: B/55680
    2. Am I overlooking pte. Grant in this section of the WD or isn't he mentioned at all? It seems to be a detailed WD the Algonquins kept.
Bad eyes make me wonder if I overlook things like this.
    3. SA means: ???? Artillery??

I wonder if someone can post a High resolution photo of that Holland map that they are refering to in the WD.
Would make research much easier and more complete.

Extremely happy alreay with the WD but who knows someone can make this research even better.:salut:

Thanks for posting but I am sure this is not the map as used with the WD makers of the Algonquin Regiment.

Wow!! I found the entry about pte. Grant. it is the last entry of 29-01-1945.
No wonder I did not find it in the first place.

This adds so much to my research.

I have added the war diary entry for the Lincoln and Welland Regiment for January 26th, 1945. This is the date Private Grant died while attached to the Lincoln and Wellands. It may shed some light on the action for that day:

Good thinking! I must have that WD but for the followers of this threat it's nice to read more about that day.

    Thanks again.
