    My great grandad Alf Blyth

    service records
    Buffs 31-38
    CMP 1939-40
    12th corps signals 43-45 including November 1944 casualty

    From what I can make out

    Hi,

    Thanks for sharing.

    I note he was only mobilised in November 1939 and was posted to Class W Army Reserve in 1941.

    Was he in a specialist civilian occupation?

    He was a GPO telephone linesman
    Was that counted ?

    there was some row going on over him being remobilised he said with GPO being reluctant

    he went back to GPO after Dec 1940 from Military police but was remobilised in 43

    And then after demobilised from airborne signals in 46 worked at GPO until retirement in 1979

    Yes - he would have come under this group of reserved occupation published in Jan 1939
