    Does anyone have any info regarding what happened at PEMBURY, nr TONBRIDGE, KENT on 21st October 1940.

    Details on my uncles death Certificate are as follows,

    Albert Edward Dyer died 21st October 1940 Sandhill, Pembury.

    Gunner Royal Artillery, number 985862.

    922 Battalion 6th Defence Regiment.

    Cause of death Due To War Operations.

    If anyone has any further information I would be very grateful.

    Suggest you apply for his Service Record from MOD in Glasgow, be warned there is a 6-9 month waiting period, check with local history soceities and library in Tonbridge.

    Also you may want to contact local newspaper to see what they have in their archives, and if these draw a blank then there is the National Archives there may be a war diary.

    Hope one of the local forum members reads this thread and helps you out.

    Pembury is nearer Royal Tonbridge Wells than Tonbridge. Can you quote the source of information.

    After The Battle's The Blitz Vol.2 has a picture of Dernier Road in Tonbridge after it was bombed by the Luftwaffe on 21st October 1940. He may have been a casualty of an air raid.

    it might be worth you contacting the cemetery just in case they have any docs relating to the burial/cremation
