On Morning Live today, they surprised a 96 year old Royal Navy D Day veteran, Albert Allen. Albert joined the Royal Navy at 16, having lied about his age, and ended up serving with distinction and taking part in the D Day landings. He is a recipient of the Legion D'Honneur medal.

Albert has been doing push ups on his balcony to raise funds for the Blind Veterans Association. He is himself partially sighted, and was inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore to do the fundraising.

He has missed out on a lot of events this year, including an invitation to a royal garden party, taking part in the VE Day 75th anniversary celebrations and two visits to Normandy, hence the surprise. A very humble, kind and brave man.
