The town finally reverted to Allied control on November 23, 1942, when it was recaptured by the British." http://ww2talk.com/index.php?search/18149704/&q=Ajdabiya&o=relevance http://ww2talk.com/index.php?search/18151256/&q=Agedabia&o=relevance Ajdabiya Line North Africa campaigns - Egypt and Libya (Autumn 1941–January 1943) Agedabia, storia e battaglie del 1941 e 1942 - Archvio storico Galvanin File:Bundesarchiv Bild 101I-782-0013-35, Agedabia, Soldaten in Ortschaft.jpg - Wikimedia Commons ----- x ----- x ----- IWM... Reasonably certain that's a German lFH 18 10.5cm howitzer. ---- x ---- They were wrong of course, it took only weeks, not months, and they were back by 30 January. All the best Andreas
Not sure about the date of those mining pictures. I suspect it more likely to be 7 Jan, when both 2 SG and 3 CG lost a truck each on mines, with one killed and several wounded. Can anyone make out the writing at the back of the truck? All the best Andreas
