A week last Wednesday, I was out as usual with the members of the Merseyside Arnhem Vets. Talking to one of the Vets who served at Arnhem with the 1st Border Regt, ending up in Fallenbostel, he was telling me how he ended up at Arnhem. Having enlisted in Late 43 aged 18, he was at the ITC at formby, when in his words some top brass turned up, asking for 25 volunteers for the Airborne forces. No one volunteered, so they simply said you, you, you, you 25 times, tellingthem to report to Hardwick Hall. P
