Years ago I read reports that when meeting up with Russian Forces in Berlin British Airborne Troops were so appalled with the Russian troops gang raping German women that they opened fire on them.. I have not been able to find those reports now.
Hi, Just looking at this old post and wondered if any Allied Airborne Forces actually ended up in Berlin at war's end? The 6th Airborne certainly had their encounters with the Russians in the area around Wismar on the Baltic. As per what Cee says, 6th Airborne got as far as Wismar. Obviously delegations went straight away, not sure who were the first bulk of troops that ended up in Berlin to man the admin areas set out.
