Very nice - and a great thing the local council have doen this, as many councils just demolish these shelters as soon as they are found. ARP buildings are now far rarer than pillboxes. It's a pity they are only now being recognised as historically important.

I've seen a Wardens helmet with "Padiham" painted on the front with the "W".....thanks for solving the mystery!
Thanks for that Berenice... I've lived about 2 miles from that location for the past 21 years now and have been in the memorial park on numerous occasions but I've never seen - nor even heard any mention of - that site before! Time for a new wander I think. Cheers
