    James,
I cannot help you, but are you by any chance a relative of Denis Cary Atkinson, born 19. November 1916 in Dorset or Devonshire?

    Stefan.

If you needed to contact his relations he features on 12 trees on ancestry (which carry the usual caveat of being an individuals creation), some of which have this photo of him.

    Bingo!
Comparing this picture with another group photo from 1941, that is Denis, no doubt at all.
    Thank you very much.
    Stefan.

Hi there, I was doing an unrelated search and came across this post. He was my Uncle, my fathers younger brother. Know as Harry not Benjamin throughout his life. Can I help with any information you were looking for?

    Hi again,
in early Autumn I am planning to be ready with my book "We are through!.
2nd Lieutenant Denis Atkinson of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards played a role in the escape of 26 officers from a POW camp in Southern Germany (my home town).
What did Denis do after 1945?
    Stefan.
