Afternoon all. I'm James from Birmingham, England. 30s. Recently started posting over on your sister site ww2f and as i am doing some research into UK service histories thought it would be good to get my feet under the table here too. HMS Tiptoe presently but need to start looking into Fleet Air arm in chinese waters too. Being a lazy b efficient sort of chap my introduction may be a little familiar to some. Long time interest in reading about WW2 since i was a lad. All aspects really from the Grand operational doctrines through to small unit actions. As i get older the books i'm reading are becoming longer and i'm starting to crave huge appendices, detailed OOB's and maps to accompany my study. Study is probably a very generous term for my shotgun approach though, and i would like to try to be a bit more focused organised and systematic. My library is mainly limited by what turns up at the local charity shops or is going dirt cheap for the kindle. Im still waiting for the 2 Stalingrad Glantz and a complete set of Erickson to turn up at an affordable price. Im going to stop holding my breath and start saving i think. Toodle pip jim
Howdy Jimmy! Yes, I lurk about here as well, but the locals pretend they don't see in the hope I'll wander off to some place like France. One kind fellow even offered to buy my ticket to speed me along!
Thx ritsonvaljos! Howdy again Belasar. Thought there may be some familiar names. Its probably lucky that I could do with some nice cheese and wine right about now. You don't shoot yourself in the foot as much as me then, at least.
howdy, jimmy, you'ill find that both sites have a bunch of the same "characters", so welcome to this side of the coin.
Thanks Ron! I have been reading your posts with great interest both at the other place and on the people's war site. Feel free to reality check me in the fine style i have seen you do before at any stage. I'm glad to have the chance to thank you both for the specific mentioned and also the general. I wont say too much on that as you seem a modest sort of chap. Cheers! Jim
