Not sure if R.A is the best category for this question, but I'm sure that a moderator can move it for me....

I wonder if anyone knows what markings would have been carried by an AEC Matador lorry of either 7th or 64th Medium Regiments RA in the latter half of 1942.

I want to finish a model, but can find no suitable photos, even with the help of Mr Google!

In the absence of any response from someone who knows what they're talking about...

If you're going down to battery level, RA tactical markings seem horribly complicated.

During late 1942, 7th and 64th Medium were 30 Corps troops so they'd have displayed the 30 Corps boar formation sign and a red/blue horizontal RA arm of service marking with white bar above, indicating Corps Troops. Serials quoted in Hodges & Taylor for MEF 21/9/1941 - 2/4/1943 appear to be '99' and '65' but it's not clear which would have applied to each regiment (lowest number with seniority ?).

Being Middle East Forces, these would probably have been the combined formation and arm of service type signs.

    That's a start. Thanks.

I don't know if I can go down to battery level even if I want to, because the AEC is towing a 5.5" gun, and I'm not sure if all the batteries were so equipped at that time.

Looks like I'm stuffed any which way, as I have scoured my entire decal collection this morning, and I have NONE of the above.

Very difficult to say what would be the markings of a gun tower at a specific time without any photographic evidence.
In Nov1942 both regts came under direct command of XXX Corps & would be expected to carry the XXX Corps Boar Formation Sign on the right of the Tower, & the RA Red over Blue Tac No. on the left, as Rich has already said.
Bty markings are another nightmare, Both Regts had a Bty of 4.5s + 5.5s.
    The 4.5 Btys were 7th Med ( 27/28Bty), 64th Med (211Bty).
    The 5.5 Btys were " ( 25/26Bty) " ( 212Bty)
It all changed again in Jan 1943 when they became regts of 5AGRA
    I only have the later Tac No.s (7th- 177/ 1192). (64th - 1193)
    Sorry not much help.
    Good luck with it anyway.
    Best
    Rob
