Can some one advice me please, you no the adverts at the top of the forums the (ads by google) i spotted the advert search ww1 records for free i clicked onto it and you have to register to search do you think it is safe and would it be good to join or am i waisting my time regards Michael
There's no such thing as a free lunch. This is presumably an ad from a genealogy website - Ancestry or some such - and will give you very limited functionality. Essentially, you'll be able to find the record, but you'll then have to pay to read it, possibly taking out as much as a year's subscription.

I liken it to the 'free' check you can do on your credit record. They offer you free access for a month or so and all you have to do is register. I presume people are aware they are enlarging the firms database when they provide the requested information. The firm gets you to do all their work and then has the cheek to charge you for it if you persist!
