Thanks for sharing. I'm still collecting Canadian service records. Its a long process. About 850 Canadian records. So far I just did not found those of Murrary, John B/66706, Royal Regiment of Canada, R.C.I.C. who died on 19 August 1942 (Dieppe). Body washed ashore in Belgium. And Dick, Benson Gordon V/17800, H.M.M.T.B. 485., Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve who died on 14 February 1945.

At the moment I'm mostly interested in these Canadian Regiment war diary's. All September, October, November 1944.
    - Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada
    - Canadian Scottish
    - Highland Light Infantry of Canada
    - Lake Superior Regiment
    - Le Regiment de la Chaudiere (if English)
    - Lincoln and Wellland
    - North Nova Scotia Highlanders
    - North Shore New Brunswick
    - Royal Winnipeg Rifles
Of course I can order them in Ottawa. I did so for the Algonquin, Regina Rifles and Stormont Dudas & Glengarry Highlanders. Perhaps a trade with a forum member is possible?

    Re your post #28
At the top of the WW2talk page click on "resources" and go to page 2. Scroll down to Heritage Canadiana War Diaries Spreadsheet. This great resource was prepared by forum member Dryan67. Compliments of forum member Klambie, I am in touch with a Ottawa based researcher who can access personal war records for a nominal fee.

In the early morning of 30 July 1942 the inhabitants of the Belgian villages of Olmen and Balen were woken by a fierce air battle over the town. A German night fighter targeted a Wellington bomber of No.142 Squadron returning from a raid on Saarbrucken. The fight was finally resolved in a victory for German fighter ace Oberleutnant Eckart-Wilhelm von Bonin. The bomber crashed in a meadow near Olmen and immediately caught fire. All six crew members were killed in the crash.

    M. Broucke, George of Leffinge (Belgium) farmer, who was visited on April 11, 1946. States: "On August 1, 1942, at approximately 04.00 hours I was awakened by the noise of an aircraft, I loooked out and saw that the weather was foggy and then an aircraft crashed approximately 50 meters from my house and exploded. I believe this aircraft was shot down by the German Batteries located near my farm.
A few minutes later after the crash an airman came in and said that his companions had been killed. The Germans came to search the house and captured him. I believe he was a Canadian. In the morning I saw the Germans around the aircraft and they had parts of carbonized bodies. These they separated into two coffins and buried them in Leffinge cemetery."
