    Hello:

I am interested in hearing from anyone that has information, testimonials, instruction sheets or data on the Addressograph Model 70 medical imprinter.

This device is made reference to in the following sites, www.snopes.com and www.dogtagsrus.com and it is said to be the reason for the "notch" in the military dog tags.

I have heard rumors that the Addressograph Model 70 resembled a hand gun and from a distance might give the appearnce of a pistol. I have heard that for this reason many of the WWII medics disposed of their issued Addressographs.

I am seeking anyone who has information on the Addressograph Model 70, in particuliar anyone who was trained on or issued an Addressograph Model 70, I would like to hear testimonials about the device. Also seeking any information about "notched" WWII dog tags including testimonials.

    Thank You

    David

I have deleted an identical copy of this post from "Real Life Experiences" as any replies need to be grouped under one heading.

Geoffrey Perret's "There's A War To Be Won" disposes of the myth that the dogtag notch is so that it can be jammed in the teeth of the dead man. The notch is actually so that the nail can be hammered into the dogtag and wood of the dead man's coffin the QM Graves Registration Team buries the body. The notch enables the first nail to be put in the right position.
