I have a female relative mentioned on a memorial tablet in her parish church, to those who served. Beside each of those listed are the abbreviations of rank, regt etc. One has me at a loss though as beside the lady's name it has A.C. . I have asked some residents and family members but no one has been able to explain what the letters might mean. Any suggestions?

Can you post the full line? There maybe a clue in it.

Hi drew it is literally a list of names with abbreviations beside them
    Hers is Eva Kirk A.C.
    the two below are
    Samuel Kirk Fus.
    Thomas Kirk Pte

Both are also relatives Samuel served with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers becoming a POW at one point but escaped (another area I'm starting to look into) whilst Thomas became a POW at Dunkirk.

thanks idler. Coincidentally I came across a reference to a Miss Kirk today whilst looking in the 1944 microfilm of a local paper. It was a passing reference in some village notes and did indeed list her as WAAF. Thanks for the help.

Are there any sites I could visit to try and track down where she might have been during WW2?

I assume she would have an RAF service record the same as the blokes, though you'd need to track down her next-of-kin.
