Dear members all of WW2 Talk. For the past few weeks I have been somewhat out of sorts due to; 1. Detached retina (too many hard landings?) 2. Cataract formed immediately post detached retina op (age?) 3. Follow up cataract surgery (the jury’s out) 4. Sight still iffy as “good eye” has ongoing issues (Weiss Ring anyone?!) 5. The march of time! Heartfelt apologies to the members of this site for my delay in responding to their communications. Semblance of useable vision slowly returning and I therefore hope to be tackling commitments within the next month or so. Thanks to members for their patience, best wishes to all. Kind regards, Jim (one eye) Herriot P.S. Please, no pirate references, had ‘em all and more!
Hi Jim, Very sorry to hear about your eye problems. I hope things improve for the better soon. Regards ...
FWIW, the first paragraph of Wikipedia's treatment blurb talks of adaptation which could theoretically be accelerated by suitable brain-training therapy if any such has been developed and, more crucially for NHS bean-counters, proven effective by clinical trials. This seems to be why crucial NICE advice on my LHS homonomous hemianopia has been flagrantly ignored - too many probably-quack expensive remedies being touted and the only NHS-acceptable one rendered useless by cheapskate implementation at the hands of numpties. As well as scouring Wikipedia's references, I'd recommend seeking out any online fora where this issue is being discussed by your 'T-shirted' fellow sufferers - bearing in mind that 'Weiss ring' is AKA 'floaters'. And finally, of course, good luck ... Illegitimi non carborundum, Steve
