Who are these normal people? And more importantly - can we annexe their wall space for some filing-raum?

I don't think that's a good idea Diane, books have to be handy for reference when the 'I know I've read it somewhere' moments come.

'Normal' people can quite often do 'minimalist'*, at least in the places that visitors see. They certainly wouldn't want other people's clutter.

*I might just mean tidy actually.

Having recently started using Abebooks I can't fault it.

    Blinking eck.....I love Abebooks :D

I sent them an email yesterday asking about a refund. In short seller didn't have book I was charged £24.00 for it and refund not showing yet in my account.

Got a very apologetic email saying that it takes up to ten days to show in my account (4 days left). I was very happy with that reply but reading further on in the email....

As a good will gesture they are giving me 15% off my next order up to a value of £15. All I need to decide now is what book I want

I've had the same thing happen and received the same great service too. I've also had books not show up and no response from the seller when I contacted them via Abebooks. In all cases, Abe has refunded the money when I contacted them directly. It's my first choice for book searching.
The only major issue I've had with them occurred a couple of years ago. I have a habit of putting books as save for later in my shopping basket. Came back one day and the basket was empty. On contacting customer service I was told they'd conducted some routine maintenance and were sorry but my list was gone. Lesson learned and I now print out my saved basket items as a backup.
Just a word of advice to anyone else who might do the same thing ;)

    Cheers

Nice to see money burns a hole in your wallet
I too have had the same experience with ABEBOOKS in sending a gratis voucher and reimbursing me when sellers have done the dirty taken the funds and not sent the item.

One reason I keep going back to them

    Ouch!

It was quite cheap actually compared to the rest - So cheap I just ordered the IG History by Fitzgerald :)

I've started doing a wants list and it works. I've just got an email saying a first edition VG condition IG History was available for £40-Nearly half the price of what they seem to be selling for. I guess that why all the books seem expensive and never sell-as soon as a cheap copy comes up for sale its sold almost straight away.
