    In an earlier thread Malta/N Africa units 1943 I sought help with what looked like No 5 Adv O2E (the Adv could have been ADU). Answer came there none! This was in a record as the man was leaving Malta for UK in Dec 43.

    The same abbreviation O2E has come up in a record relating to the capture of a man in Italy in Oct 43. (Clip attached) where my broad interpretation is that the entry relates to a cable O2E numbered 4244 from BNAF in Nov 1943 confirming that he was a POW.

    I wonder whether its appearance in this other record will ring a bell somewhere?

    I think O2E is 2nd Echelon. I've seen it before.

    I'm not sure what the 'O' actually is. Perhaps it's '0', (as in '02'), but they didn't want O/0 confusion.

    See here, for example:

    Got it.

    O = Officer.
