Reading up on the great book by PM Knight, a technical history of the A13 Mk1&2 Cruiser tanks, i was wondering how many are left in the world. The only one i know is at Bovington and there was one in France which has now been scrapped because of its poor state.
Thanks for this - in some ways rather sad- but it leaves me somewhat confused with the OP (possibly an age related effect) The Cruiser I and II were the A9 and A10 respectively not the A13 or is this just senility overcoming me?
So it seems the A13 at Bovington is the only one left. I would had hoped that the French scrap dealer that took away the A13 from the museum in France would have seen it worth more that scrap and saved it.
A13 Mk.I = Cruiser Mk.III A13 Mk.II = Cruiser Mk.IV The changeover in designation happened in June/July 1940. Therefore an A13 can be a Mk.I, Mk.II, Mk.III or Mk.IV. For extra confusion, the Covenanter was the A13 Mk.III, and then the Cruiser Mk.V, before it became the Covenanter.
