Northeast Prussia If anyone is travelling to Poland or the Baltic States then check this out. The pictures are quite interesting and gives a good feel to what was once Prussia
Very interseting, looks abit run down doesn't it? Europe is only a small continent but funny how some of it is unknown to us thanks to the old Iron Curtain. I like the idea of Lenin as a garden gnome. This house in Gross Rominten/Hardteck/Krasnolese on the Rominter Heide is being made into a pension. V.I. Lenin has somehow taken over the function of garden gnome here. Monuments in Northeast Prussia
Yeah I agree Owen and whats eerie about it is that the images look like they COULD have been taken in 1944-45. This was one of the richest parts of the Reich and look what became of it. Its still suffering 60 years after the end of the war
Fascinating site. Nice, I think, to find a spot of europe not infected yet by the cloning town-planners. It might look behind the times but it does retain a sense of calmness that belies its past. Do you know how the present day Prussians feel about their new freedoms? I've read recently that in the Baltic countries, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia there is some disenchantment with the post-communist governments. I was wondering if the old East Germany was regreting their reunion?
