Hello everyone, greetings from Scotland. I have just joined so please bear with me while I take my first steps! In due course I will be posting a query in Genealogy seeking help to establish a timeline of my father's WW2 service through the Camerons and (possibly?) 5th Scottish Parachute battalion, Parachute Regiment and later into Palestine and Korea. I will post a thread when I have got all my information ready to go. (Mod edit: link) Father in Camerons & Parachute Regiment, N Africa, Italy, Arnhem,Palestine I hoping someone might be able to assist my research, in however small a way. Shona
Thank you everyone for welcoming me. I've just posted my thread over in Genealogy now. Phew, it took a while - but I wanted to provide as much info as possible! It's called "Father in Camerons & Parachute Regiment, N Africa, Italy, Arnhem,Palestine"Please look if it might be of interest. 51highland -Your username suggests you might have connections to Scottish Regiments
Hmm ... I've been doing a bit of searching around on the forums and I'm now maybe wondering if I should have posted my enquiry in 'Airborne' rather than 'Genealogy' ?! Apologies if it's in the wrong place, I'm still finding my feet. Genealogy seemed to cover all bases and because his records stated artillery and Camerons as well as Parachute Regiment I didn't think it was wholly 'Airborne' so hedged my bets. If it will have better success in that category perhaps a nod to the mods from someone in the know will result in it being moved if necessary? Thanks.
Hello and welcome to the forum Shona. Don't worry about posting in the wrong place-the mods will move it. Lesley
Thanks for the welcome. I've already received quite a bit of information on the thread, which is wonderful.
