OK, really dumb question from a newbie, but I have misplaced my reference book somewhere.
Panzer Grenadiers were motorized infantry supporting the German panzers. Question: Did the panzer grenadiers have tanks organic to their T/O? It seems as though they would have, but I need some guidence on this. Thank you in advance.

    Tbar -
as far as I am aware the PG's were motorised to the start line of an attack - then if it was quiet - they rode on the backs of their Tanks until the shooting started - in the same way as the British Infantry did with their Churchill Tanks although it was bit more difficault on Shermans owing to their shape...

see this link wherein the PG's jumped down from their tanks - they had no reaal need for Tanks of their own !

It depends at which echelon you are referring to. Panzergrenadier Divisions in the final half of the war were authorized a tank battalion. At echelons below division, no tanks were authorized, although, of course, they often fought with the Panzergrenadiers in combined-arms operations.

    You can see a late war armored Panzergrenadier battalion at this page: K r i e g s e t a t  44
