I thought today would be the ideal day to say a big thank you to the www2talk team!!
I joined in Feb 2012 attempting to establish where my Grandfather landed today 68 years ago and what he did throughout his services up until the end of the war and where did he go. You will see from my other posts the team have helped me to establish the answers which has enabled me to have printed a colour book for my father with photos/maps/war diary extracts etc............Which will enable me to take my father to the locations next year to show him where his father was.
So Thank You and particularly to the following as each piece of information given actually helped with achieving this.

Drew 5233 – Thanks Andy your service offered on finding/copying War Diaries and MC/MM Citations etc... was second to none and has given me rather a lot to read but we got the right info and answered a lot of questions, I think there is still a lot of answers yet to be read!!!
Owen – Thanks for spotting the cap badge of the Chaplain and the African Star I still do not have a name but with Drew found other MC/MM in my Grandfather Troop that helped – Also Zonhoven!! and that photo of a Kapok!!!
Steve Mac – Thanks for all the beach landing info and times and for the first mention of 8th GHQ which led from 89th Field Coy to a much greater search and understanding of who they were and that while 89/90 & 91 landed on different beaches within different beach groups they effectively re joined back together for the bridges...........
Trux – Thanks confirming Padre, The bridge names Tay 1 & 2 and pointing me to the Battlefield Tour Volumes 1 & 2
Stolpi – Thanks confirming bridge names from the photos, I think I have all the answers now and will repost soon, also your Rhine Crossing Thread helped greatly.
RobertC - Matched the War Diary entry to one of my granddads photos.
dbf – For also confirming the War Diary entry of the Germans blowing Nijmegen Bridge
DannyM - Confirming Fouled Anchor formation sign which led also led me to 8th GHQ Troops
Rich Payne – Also confirming the fouled anchor formation sign and GHQ Diagonal Bar in the photo

So a big thank you and if you are reading this thinking about joining...stop thinking...the team are brilliant!!

In remembrance of all those involved 68 years ago!!

    Cheers

It is good to say that you are gracious enough to give a big 'thank you' to all these researchers, Malcolm. Best wishes to you and your father as you follow in your Granddad's footsteps.

Thanks again, if it was not for the team we might not of pieced things together as the MoD info was not 100%.

I will certainly update with info of our visit, might well need some guidance from the group once I have looked at the locations to visit.
    Cheers

Thanks for acknowledging my small contribution. Co-incidentally, my wife is from Zonhoven and if you do go there and hear the local dialect (which is much less strong than it was seventy years ago) then you'll understand exactly how the phonetic spelling went a little wrong.

Montgomery had his Tactical Headquarters (I believe in the Meylandt Kasteel) during late 1944 and records meeting Eisenhower there on 28th November.

Well done Malcolm and congratulations on your thread/Post.

Another example of those members pitching together to achieve a result. Your recognition of that assistance is also appreciated.

The members should be most helpful with the locations. Enjoy the trip and post all the photos.

    Cheers

Thanks all and I will no doubt continue to ask questions as I go further.
Just to say my father spent 10years trying to find out about his father and even received a refund from the MoD as the information did not answer his questions by joining this forum I managed to produce the below book for my fathers 75th birthday not 100% we know but he is overwhelmed with its contents and the help of this forum:-
Richard Snelgrove WWII - a Large Square Hardcover Photobook shared by PhotoBox member Malcolm Snelgrove

Many thanks and I will be back with all the locations for our visit.
    Cheers

    Very much appreciated, Malcolm

I read Kev's (handle 'Manta') thread earlier, before reading your own thanks to 'the team' and saw the very real assistance you are providing to him in his search. It made me smile. That assistance to a fellow searcher is the best thanks of all. You are part of the team.

    Best,

    Steve.
