I have tried to find out exactly what R.C.FM.E means but cannot find a clear definition, my assumption that it is something to do with Canadian Engineers, but that a guess.

Do anyone of you clever chaps know??

    Thanks

There was no such thing as REME during the first lot. Canada followed GB but later still. 1944 onwards. This badge is very like the WW2 British REME type.

Thanks Rich - just needed someones thoughts extra to my own (cant rely on mine anymore). Its just that I have a very confusing search for someone whose father has this cap badge but was also in 2 regiments in WW1 - he has WW1 medals showing 6 London Rifles, but also tells me he was in QORGY, but this was amalgamated into the Household cavalry :wacko:o_O:omg::unsure:

If a UK serviceman had this cap badge then it's one that he obtained rather than was issued with....or else he emigrated to Canada and ended up as an Ordnance and then RCEME storeman.

He was a serviceman in WW1 (born 1897/1898 died 1952) so he probably picked it up or was given it after WW2 - the search continues - the client keeps providing odds & ends that need piecing together, as you may have seen in post 7 :banghead:o_O

Thanks again for all the help guys

It was either Glasgow or London, not sure which as yet - I could do with knowing a member who has access to the 1939 register :)
