As some of the members are aware, I model a little in 1/6th scale WW2 military.

I have recently collected enough British uniform and webbing to enable me to make a stab at a representation of my fathers unit in Italy.

He was with the 4th Reconnaissance Regiment in Italy and Greece.

On reading about the Recce units, it is clear that they were not always used in the role of Recce, mostly due to the terrrain and defence lines, which neccessitated the Recce being deployed as a normal front line soldier.

My Father always stated that his favourite weapon was the Bren Gun and so I have one bening carried.

I hope that this is something that my father would have looked like.

Alas I have no photographs of him with kit and webbing, just normal walking out photographs, so this figure is a representation of what I have seen from photographs.

    Hope you enjoy viewing.

    Regards
    Tom

    TCS -
Main thing is that you are happy - BUT odd looking belt etc for WW2- lanyard around right shoulder- unless left handed - to prevent enemy choking you -field dressing in belly pouch - no knife - shovel not pick - nor entrenching tool

Can appreciate difficulty in matching gear etc but otherwise well done
    Cheers

    Thanks all for the comments.

I appreciate that there are mistakes with equipment and uniform, which I hope to rectify when I can get hold of the right type.

Up to now it is a representation and based on just a few photographs from books.

    Regards
    Tom

    Mike,

Yes a labour of love, but getting hold of the correct uniform and webbing is difficult. I I am anticipating in the near future getting my hands on some correct uniform and equipment from a contact in the UK, but will have to wait patiently.

Hence the paratroop trousers with enlarged pocket!
I have lowered the chevrons as they were too high, but I am very happy with the Beret and Recce Badge.
There is also a passing resemblance with the headsculpt.

    Regards
    Tom

Frankly, that's amazing. How do you get the realism with the face - is it in resin/how do you make it? And did you also make the weaponry? It's very fine work and a unique memento of your father.

    Smudge,

Well done and a tribute to your dear old Dad. I was reminded immediately of a well known photo of Paras crossing the Pont l'Eveque girder. I'll add a crop from my Father's origninal showing how the bren was carried by marching troops. According to his son this is Tommy Kelly of the 7th Battalion (L.I.) the Parachute Regiment.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Jon,

The figure is an old 1/6 scale action figure, which I picked up in a shop here in Berlin.

The headsculp is from a Dragon in Dreams figure that came with two heads, the other has a day or two facial stubble.

The heads are quite good, but you can always weather them.

I do like to scratch build if I can but I was able to purchase the Bren and some uniform bits and pieces from someone in the UK.

Unfortunately I really do need some authentic uniform to make it an authentic looking piece, but at the moment it is just a representation and to me looks good enough until I take delivery of new uniform items.

I now know a little more about British Uniforms after purchasing some books.

    Regards
    Tom
