    WO 361/2123.

    Prisoners of war, Far East: 9th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers; nominal roll.
    Date: 01 Jan 1943 – 31 Dec 1945

    CHA = Changi Prison
    OVL – means the POW left Singapore overland, such as to Thailand.
    OVS – means the POW left Singapore by sea for transportation overseas to Japan, Formosa (Taiwan) etc.

    Hi just joined this site. Thanks for the PDFs. I found my dad on the roll cover. When it says RV/OVS...what does the RV stand for please

    Debz,

    RV/OVS means he was sent Overseas from River Valley Camp in Singapore, not the 'main' camp of Changi.

  7. I've also found my Grand father Albert Slaughter on the list. He was liberated from Japan where they worked in a Copper mine.
    In his later years a Japanese Film crew made a documentary about his liberation.

    No worries Darren. I notice that Albert would have been 100 years old in a few days time, judging by his date of birth on the questionnaire.
