    Hi

I'm trying to find info relating to my Great Uncle, Rfn John G Oliver who was KIA on 26 Sept 1944. We believe he was with either B or D coy and that he was killed in or around the village of Best in Holland. The family was visited by a (and I hesitate to use the word) 'friend' of John a few months after his death who told them he had been killed whilst running away from the engagement and that it took 3 days for him to die of his wounds. This person had some of John's personal belongings which he demanded payment for before he would hand them over. I know that other ranks are rarely mentioned in unit war diaries, but if anyone has the 9 Bn diary leading up to the 26 Sept we would be eternally grateful for any info relating to the whereabouts of the unit and any actions they were involved in.

    Thanks for reading this
    Sarah

If you look at the graves registrations, he was first buried at the tempery locatiation at zon. Importend to now is if he died instantly on the 26th or 3 days later of wounds?
