I am looking for some information on the CO of 9th Camerons wounded at Hill 112. They were attached to the 43rd Wessex as reserve Battalion for the Hill 112 attack?
    Many thanks in advance

Owen, Sorry, I'm getting my references mixed up, it is the 9th Cameronians (15th Scottish). Is it possible to edit the title so it will be seen by the right people?

I think Lt-Col Villiers was the CO at the time.

    Have edited title too.

Regimental history confirms Lt Col R.M. Villiers through August 1944.

Villiers was not wounded at Hill 112, were any of the senior Officers of the Regiment wounded at Chateau de Fontaine Etoupefour?

The regimental history severe casualties after the action on 10-11 July as one officer and 12 ORs killed, 7 officers and 103 other ranks wounded and 36 ORs missing. The Commanding Officer had an almost miraculous escape. A small mortar bomb actually exploded on his steel helmet. Although temporarily incapacitated he remained with the Battalion and took a very part in the rest of the campaign.

Interesting story, thank you for that. I had read an account of a medic who treated a senior officer of the Cameronians who lost both his legs to a mortar round, it appears to be incorrect.
