Looking for info on 920th Ordnance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Company. All I can find is that they served in the Rhineland campaign in WWII. Don't know what higher unit they were assigned under.

Not a big surprise given the size of the US armed forces in WW2, with their long extended support organizations and rear area units rarely get a mention in official histories. Or old comrades newsletters etc, as many USAAF formations have.

From: Ordnance Corps (United States Army) - Wikipedia

    The first item found was:
    From: Postal History Search Results

The letter above is from 33796584 Sidney Ellick (?), using A.P.O. 513, New York. Dated 21/4/1945. No trace online of that number. APO numbers can change location, but at one point in 1943 it was in England and in 1945 Reims, France.

Note the unit is shown as:
Alas it makes no difference to an online search.

Perhaps this short history of the 902nd HAM Company can help explain what their function was: https://digicom.bpl.lib.me.us/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1001&context=ww_reg_his

That unit lost members, but the 920th did not - according to a search on: Cemeteries & Memorials | American Battle Monuments Commission

Albeit a quote from another HAM unit in the Korean War:

Just to confuse there was a 920th Ordnance Replacement Company, which was in Metz, France in 1945. From: https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/Report_for_Duty/_dIDDQAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq="920th+Ordnance+replacement+company"&pg=PT6&printsec=frontcover
