Hi folks - I've closed the photobucket link and moved files to a SkyDrive account. I've also posted the rest of the Battalion's diaries so there's a complete record available.
Just to say thank you for putting these on the forum. We found them invaluable and have printed them all off. My grandfather, Robert Charles Cheeseman was in C company and sailed on the SS Cheshire arriving on June 7th and up to now we haven't found any references to C company. In the appendices were two accounts by soldiers in C company and also references in the diary entries. It made my elderly father very happy. He would love to see a photo of C company if any are around.
Hi there - glad you found them and they made your father happy. I've got the other 3 war diaries which cover the 1939 to Dec 1943 period so the rest of the war. I'm in the process of shifting everything onto my SkyDrive account as photobucket keep messing about with the organisation of the folders making it hard for me to keep images in order. My grandfather was in A company and went on the beaches at h+20 in the first wave with the Winnipegs as part of the beach group. Some chaps done the Canadian landing tables and I've managed to narrow it down to one of 4 LCAs. Not seen many platoon/company photos - in fact only one of a platoon in A company but my grandfather wasn't in it. We've got plenty of images of him in uniform from when tha battalion was stationed at Welwyn Garden City and him and a colleague stayed with Lisa Sheridan - google the name and place?
