His father NC Tufnell only gets a few mentions in Ponsonby for WW1. Joins 3rd Bn in Dec 1917 as a Captain . (Where was he for the rest of the war?) Listed as OC No 3 Company 3 GG from Jan 1918. No further mentions until August 1918 still OC No. 3 Coy. 21st August they attack in thick fog, with No. 3 Coy on the right. "A little later Captain Tufnell and Captain Hurst report that Nos. 9 & 12 Platoons of No. 3 Company and all of No. 4 Company were near Moyblain Trench, having completely lost their way." He gets no other mentions , no reason for leaving the Bn , no wounds, no awards.
