Hi Lawrence - re your question in the Op Veritable 15 Sc & 43rd W Div thread:

From the War Diary of the 193rd Field Ambulance: 17 Feb - "A" Coy CCP moved to BEDBURG Map Ref 939521 and opened up.

    See: https://4fb34fa8-7108-4882-a984-2cf...d/29af12_0856e530af554884ab99b9fefd027607.pdf

Bedburg is the mental hospital hard east of Cleve. A large complex inside a wooded area. It still exists (see: LVR-Klinik Bedburg-Hau – Wikipedia). The British knick-named the area Hospital Wood.

ADS had set up at Cleve (shoe factory on the southwestern edge of the town). The road from the CCP towards Cleve was bumpy as a result of debris and bomb craters. From there the wounded were evacuated back to hospitals in Nijmegen in DUKW, because of the flooded conditions between Cleve and Nijmegen.

    Hope this is of help

  2. Yes, a great help, which I now think concludes this part of the War research for Germany. I’m waiting on Monty’s Northern Legions to arrive. I’m heading back to France Op Epsom and the taking of hill 112

Here's the link to the Scottish resources I've used in my own research. Your lucky you've managed to get back to the 1700's with a name like McIntosh. I got stuck with my Gilmour's in that century too.

What address did your Dad give when he went into service in 1942? Did he give a religious preference? Some records can be found that way. Whose name did he give as next of kin and what was their address?

What were his parents full names and when and where did they die? Have you traced their burials?

    Cheers
    Maria
