Hi I have just joined this great page and have been amazed at the knowledge and helpfulness of those on it.
I have been tracing my Family history for some time and now trying to help my husband trace his.
My husband did not know much about his Fathers side of the family but has recently learned some interesting facts about his grandfather, who served with 7th battalion seaforth highlanders. My husband also has an army background serving with the queens own highlanders for a few years....
The info we have so far is..... Archiebald McMillan B 1921, served with 7th seaforth highlanders , 3314220 but was sadly killed in action on 15th Feb 1945 and buried at Reichswald war crematory.
There was also rumour that he may also have spent time as a " commando" but we have no idea how to find out... The only thing to go on was that he was from Glasgow but met and married his wife who was from Spean Bridge, where the commandos trained ( near Achnacarry )...
Any help / info / advice would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jackie.

Hi Jackie-You can obtain a copy of his service records from the MOD and they will track his military career for you confirming if he was attached to the commando's.

According to CWGC he was moved to the Reichswald Cemetery in 1946 from his original burial location.
