Durand and Hastings: The London Rifle Brigade 1919-1950:

On the 13th of June the Battalion moved off for the South-Eastern Command Exercise "Waterloo". On the way to the concentration area "B" and "C" Companies were inspected by the King, the Company Commanders being presented.
The exercise started the next day, and on the morning of the 14th Major Reeve, commanding "C" Company, fell from a scout car, in which he was making a reconnaissance, in front of a moving carrier and was fatally injured. The accident happened near Clayton cross-roads on the Brighton road. Ralph Reeve was a good officer and a good friend, and that he should lose his life in such a way was a tragedy.
