Agreed , he's listed in the back of the Royal Wilts history as ''Died while POW''. I'd have thought he'd have been captured at El Alamein. He's not mentioned by name in the text.
Owen would have to agree with you as the 9th Armoured Bde of which the Wiltshires belonged only fought at El Alamein and Syria before showing up in Italy to join the Polish Div along the Eastern Coast above Bari et al where he MIGHT have died and the dates MIGHT be wrong..stranger things happened- as 8th Army didn't land in Italy until September 3rd 1943 - as Monty pointed out - the anniversary of the war starting for Britain…and the date suggested that he died three months after El Alamein - from wounds …?
