    Hello,

On 26th & 27 th of May 1940 the 6th Seaforths Highlanders were fighting nearby Zillebeke Railway (nearby Ypres & nearby Zillebeke Lake). That is the place where I live.
Their headquarters of the 6 th Seaforths (mentioned in their war diary) was at a farm postioned at about H6058.
    • Somebody knows where this positions could have been?
    • Somebody has WWII map references where we can find back the position H6058?
    • Somebody knows against which German troops the 6th Seaforths Highlanders had to fight that day?.
    Thanks for your answer.

    Regards, Marc

Using the co-ords translator I came up with this.
    http://www.echodelta.net/mbs/eng-translator.php#
Use the map Nord de Guerre with prefix vH .
    Nord de Guerre Zone
    vH6058

    50° 49' 24'' N
    2° 54' 22'' E

as we only have a 4 figure map ref that will be an entire grid square wont it?
I'm sure we had a map on here from that battle with battalion positions marked on it, years ago.
    edit: map here. http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/10452-bef-rearguard-actions-dunkirk-what-are-your-most-poignant-stories/?p=115751

Not sure if you have resolved this but....

On the GSGS40 map of that area, the grid square 6058 is exactly where my research has placed the initial BHQ set up before they retreated to the southwest side of the canal.

for more info have a quick peak at my RSF 1940 website.
