    Hi all

My father, L/cpl Andrew Mavor passed away 27th February 2016 aged 93.

I posted an obituary on this site and was lucky enough to be contacted by a gentleman in France, Ludo Louie, from St Vaast en auge. Ludo has set up a museum and memorial in St Vaast to the 12 men who died in and around his village on the night of 6th June 1944. He has made it his life's work to find out about the men and to commemorate them. My father had been in the same plane as some of those men. ..my Dad survived for 5 days before being captured...he was moved around and finally ended up in stalag 4b..Mulberg on Elbe...he was liberated by Russian troops in April 1945. He went in to live a full life..a wife of 59 years..4 children and 6 grandchildren

I went to Normandy last year with my husband...to services in St Vaast and Ranville and we were given the very best reception. My husband and i are going back this year. If anyone would like us to place a poppy cross at the War Cemetary in Ranville...home of the 6th Airborne..in memory of a loved one ..let me know their name and I will do so .if you give me an email address I will send a photo.
