6th Airborne Division Query

    Please see the extract below from a series of event log sheets from the 6 Airborne Div's 'G' Branch war diary:

    Notice the references to "Armd Recce". At first I thought that this was a reference to the activities of the 6th Airborne Armoured Recce Regiment (6AARR), but it is clear that these are actually reports of RAF/USAAF air attacks. It is also clear that these air attacks could not have been visually witnessed by 6 AARR, as they are happening all over the front, and in some cases well away from the vicinity of 6th Airborne Division.

    So my guess is that these events are ones that have been picked up on the wireless by 6 AARR, and are being relayed to the Divisional HQ.

    Is this interpretation correct, or am I missing something?

    Hi,

    I think this will be a repeat of a signal received from Corps distributing information received from an RAF armed recce mission.
