Fusilier Irwin was probably killed during the Battalion's renewed assault on Djebel Tanngoucha that started on the evening of Maundy Thursday - and when the Irish Brigade achieved complete success in the area on Easter Monday, it facilitated the attacks on Longstop that opened the road to Tebourba and thus opened the way to Tunis....Faugh a Ballagh !
