Hi I am after any infomation of the 661AW from April 44 to Aug 46. I have my father's service records but very little in the names of locations or formation ie brigade or division. Any help would be very grateful.
Post VE Day the 661 Artisan Works Company were 2nd Army Troops and in early June 45 moved to 30th Corps District and stationed in Hannover City 30th Corps District had taken responsibility for Hannover City from the Americans in late May 45 until late 46, by then Artisan Works Companies were replaced by civilian organisations known as Artisan Service Groups (Dienst Gruppe) Hope this helps
Hi Steve Thanks for your quick reply. I know now where my father ended up and I know where he started. I'v just got to fill the bits in between!!! After VE day he got posted to theCMF in Italy, an other minefield of mystery! Thanks again Jim.
