Looking for any info on Sgt Wickersham, I believe the attached photo has him on the right - he was with the Buffs before moving the GPR (I think in early 1944), he seems to have broken bones in his feet at some point and in 1947 this was earning him a pension.

Can anyone add any info on him? did he see any active service with the GPR?

    Thanks in advance

    Alistair

This was my father. It doesn't appear to be him in the photo, but quality is not clear enough to tell. He definitely had broken bones in his feet which troubled him all his life. He died in December 1997 aged 74 in North Devon.

Have looked at photo again and definitely not Ivor Wickersham as he was much taller than average.

Thanks for the reply, its odd as the photo came with his Service Book and whoever it is in the photo his badges seemed to confirm it was him, but you'll be much better able to identify that it's not him - I would say the gent is quite tall, he looks a fair few inches taller than the officer getting married.

I don't suppose you know anything about the circumstances behind his broken bones do you - I think it would be a training accident but that's just supposition

    Hello Lizzie.

Is this your father featured in the RNLI story here in The Bideford Archive?
