He was initially reported 'Missing' on a casualty list dated 14 August 1940, date he went missing was not recorded, but others the date is given as 10 May - 16 June 1940. He was reported 'KIA' on a list dated 14 March 1941. May need to widen your search.
Hello Tony.... Who is than laying in this grave? And do you knwo something about his unit during 23-27 May? Thanks
Absolutely no suggestion that it is not him in the grave. I assumed that you were trying to establish the circumstances surrounding his death, by asking for details a few days either side. As Pte Garner was not initially reported KIA, but was first reported missing, perhaps there is a possibility that the action that he was involved in, that led to him being missing and subsequent death, was earlier than the dates you are looking for. For others in the same regiment the precise date of going missing was initially unknown and a date range, 10 May to 16 June reported. I was wondering if that could have also applied to your man. In the confusion of war, facts could take time to establish.
Hello Tony, I will thank every body for the quick respons... But I am only looking for what happened with the 2. Buff battaljon during the days 23 - 27 may. Where were they? What happened during that period but for all: Where were they. The picture is only some documenttation. Picture taken yesterday. I live just the other side of the border. Thanks.
Ask Drew5233 . He has the battalion war diary . He's posted some of it on other threads. Just not for that date.
