    Steve,

Nothing I could find here or online. Might have to wait for dryan67 or Sol to come along, as they have an interest in Indian regiments.

Lt. Col. R.H. Wordsworth commanded the 6th Lancers until July 1940. He is listed as such in Indian Army List of July 1940. Here is the Wikipedia article regarding him. Unfortunately he left its command in July to command the 1st (251st) Indian Armoured Brigade.

    Robert Wordsworth - Wikipedia.

The only other commander I can come up with is in June 1944 - Lt. Col. W.E.D. Robinson MC. At this point, I can't find when he was appointed. He was in command when the regiment arrived in Italy in September 1943.

The Indian Cavalry/Indian Armoured Corps two volume history lists all COs for all the regiments. Unfortunately ALL only includes those that remained with India in 1947 and not those that transferred to Pakistan, which included the 6th DCO Lancers.

Hi Guys, thanks for trying. Looking at the Indian Army List for 1st January 1941, I've been working through the Majors, expecting one of them to have been promoted. Best efforts find

Bendle, although I think he took staff posts

    or

Emtage who ended the war as a Lt Col

Good try Davidbfpo, but born 1911 makes him a Lt Col at 30, which I though a bit suspious. Looking at The Indian Army List 1st Jan 1941, I find him as Capt 1-9-40.

So the search goes on, as they say

Hi Dryan, Can you find me a photograph of Major General Thomas Scott? He was initially in the 6th Lancers ( Duke of Connaught Lancers ) Regiment and later he was transferred to Skinner's Horse Regiment. In the battle in the East Africa, he played a major role in the battle in Sudan to Erithrea as a battalion commander of Skinner's Horse. He moved to Cape Town South Africa after retirement and I have already sent en enquiry email to the South African Archives.

David, I have written to His Majesty the King for the photograph of Major General Gilbert Daly Holmes as he was an ADC to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. Also he died in Norfolk County and have sent the Norfolk Archives also an enquiry email.

I have checked through my sources and I could not find a picture. I have the history of the Indian Armoured Corps, the Pakistan Armoured Corps and the history of the 6th DCO Lancers in Italy but no luck.

    Laksiri Mendis NEED PHOTOGRAPHS

    Hi dryan67,

Thanks for your help yesterday by finding me the East African Brigades details. You are still to give me the COs of 5 more supporting elements which I mentioned in that KINGS AFRICAN RIFLES thread. And please confirm that the names I received for 11th EA Infantry Division Battalions are correct for June 1943- June 1944.

One more help. I find you are thorough with the Indian Army. Hence please if possible give me the names of the 34th Indian Infantry Division and 20th Indian Infantry Division Battalions garrisoned in Ceylon for the respective periods mentioned in my schedule. I have already sent the request to the UNITED SERVICE INSTITUTION OF INDIA - CENTRE FOR MILITARY HISTORY & CONFLICT STUDIES and I am sure they are still working on it. But if you can give me the names faster really appreciated.

The schedule is re-posted in this thread as an attachment.

    Regards,

    Laksiri

I could not find any COs for the EA support units. I'll see what I have on the 34th and 20th Indian Division units in the near future. We are approaching Christmas here and that will keep me busy for the next week.
