    Hi
I am new to the forum and hoping for some help. My father Cyril Rose served in the above unit I think from 1940 to 1946. He was in North Africa and Italy. I am fortunate that he is still with us, and have been talking to him about his experiences, hoping to build as complete a picture as possible.
However his memory wasn't as good as it was although he has remembered some place names in N. Africa.
I wondered if any forum member could help me plug the gaps as to where the unit went after they landed. I understand that for some time the unit was attached to 6th Armoured Division.

    many thanks
    Jon

can you please post a little more detail on the 6th Aromoured Division as to when he was attached. Also any dates of movement so we have information to work with

Jon, if you can, I'd recommend getting hold of a copy of Jack Dienst's book "A Civilian in Uniform".

Jack was a DR section fitter with 5 Corps Signals from 1940 onwards. The book is quite a personal account but will give you a good idea of places and conditions.

The DRs of 5 Corps Signals were photographed several times and there are copies with the IWM.

Your Dad should recognise the viking ship formation sign :-

    Hi
I will try and find out. I think it will be a slow process but I do have some info from a conversation I had with him a while back. I will report back in due course.

    thanks

    Hi Rich
Thanks for the info. I will show my dad the pic when I see him next. I did actually meet Jack Dienst when I went to a 5th Corps Reunion some years ago and have established that he was in different section. His book is a bit pricey so I am trying to borrow via the library.

    regards
    Jon
