From The Times, Monday, July 8, 1940
    ARMY AWARDS

    GALLANT REARGUARD ACTIONS
    FINE LEADERSHIP AND COURAGE

The War Office issues the following list of immediate awards by the Commander-in-Chief, British Expeditionary Force:-

    DISTINGUISHED SERVICE ORDER

    PARHAM, LT.-COL. HETMAN JACK, R.A.
During the withdrawal Lt.-Col. Parham displayed great coolness and decision, keeping his forward guns going until the last possible minute and then withdrawing them, having arranged for other guns in rear to take up their task. On May 29, when covering with some of his guns the withdrawal at Bambecque, he noticed that the enemy had penetrated on his right. On his own initiative he collected some carriers and successfully counter-attacked. His truck was hit and he was wounded, but he managed to get back on foot.

At the risk of planting temptation on your path, there's a more modern and more cheaply available reprint edition of that one, too.

For the membership who probably weren't born then, a scan from a photocopy of the document
A History of the 67th Field Regiment by PM.

Regarding notes on the attached AOP photograph:
The American 36th Combat Engineers went on the offensive on 25th Feb.
Their OC Colonel Stanley was a great admirer of General Templar (nicknamed “The Saint”) a cool brave soldier, he wandered about the lines on his own at night. General Templar wanted prisoners from the coast front,
telling him stories of successful British patrols.
A plan was then hatched for a fighting patrol to attack enemy machine gun posts
that had appeared on their side of the Moletta river.
The attack went in at 0200 it was not a success with two officers and several GI’s wounded.
Their morale was lowered but while they didn't want to admit it,
they were not trained as infantry and hoped to do better next time.
27th Feb 265 receive a bombardment of well over 500 shells with no casualties.
446 lost Sgt Childs and six casualties, front lines were heavily mortared, so a heavy attack was expected.
A Counter Battery and Counter Mortar program began.
