    Your initial posting can be most misleading as the term "in action" always meant to be in the front line and fighting etc

    No one fought that continuously as your own Sheet #1 states that with two days on operations the other four days were taken with

    Maintenance and Training - we thought that we were hard done by on the Gothic Line as being "in action" for eighteen days

    before a two day rest - even that was cut short…but as D Day Dodgers we expected that

    Yes paul the 56th fought a long hard war and me, you ,lesley and tony are obviously very proud our fathers were 56th recce men and d day dodgers .
