I am currently putting together a display for T/106293 Dvr Victor Hugo Sharples. We have been given a lot of paperwork, letters, photos etc. including some items recovered from his body when he was retrieved from the sea. These include his paybook and a provisional driving licence issued by Wigan Council. The unit details come from a permission to be absent slip issued in Camberley in Dec 39.
He was killed between the 28th May and 23 June 1940 and his body was washed ashore at Saint Aubin-sur-Mer about half way between Saint Valery-en-Caux and Dieppe. He was initially posted as missing. His wife was then informed he had been killed whilst a POW. This was later ammended to Killed in Action.
If any one can add anything to his story I would be most grateful.

    Derek
