Hello, Could anyone help me find out more about the 520 Company of the Royal Army Service Corps. My great grandfather served with them for 5 years from 1939-1944 as a driver-batman for a Lieutenant C. Spencer amongst other things. Was this company UK based only or did they travel overseas? I think he may have been abroad for the first two years as his regular leave allocations only started in june 1941. Any help would be most appreciated! Regards, Chris

Thought 520 Coy was familiar, they were in 46 Div, I have the Div history upstairs. Here's some info on units of 46 Div. > 46th Division Units and Structure RASC 520 Coy (Inf Bde) 519 Coy (Inf Bde) 570 Coy (Inf Bde) 521 Coy (Inf Div Trps)
Chris. 46 BR Inf Div was one of the two assaulting Divs to land at Salerno on 9 Sep 43. It then fought up to and crossed the River Volturno before being committed to the crossing of the Garigliano just downstream of Monte Cassino on 19 Jan 44. The crossing failed. Regards FdeP
Wow! thanks everyone. This is most surprising as I thought Great grandad Jim never left England. I had better double check the records. Chris
