Pte Arthur Causon was killed at Cassino on 23 Mar 44 whilst serving in 1/4 Essex. He originated from Cirencester which is a long way from Essex so I have been wondering whether he enlisted in his local Regt before, for some operational reason at the time, was moved to 1/4 Essex. Could anyone tell me whether 5193753 is from the Gloustershire Regiment batch of Army Numbers or whether it is from an Essex one? FdeP

Hi Frank - The only way to know for sure is via a copy of his service records. I suspect you already know that though
